Where did this world, this universe, all the planets and solar systems come from–as well as all the tiny microscopic forms of life? The answer is that “God spoke, and it came to be.” As we read in Hebrews 11:3, By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. We see that in the Genesis account: “God said let there be light, and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3) That is the nature of God’s power. We are already ‘lost’ in terms of our understanding of it, how he simply speaks and it comes to be. God’s creative power comes through his Word, as his Spirit (or “breath”) accompanies it. We read in Psalm 33:6, By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

We also see that there is definitely an ORDER to Creation, what we would recognize today as the laws of physics, laws of gravity, reproduction(plants bearing seeds, “kind producing kind”) , et cetera God established these, and continues to watch over his Creation, sustaining it all by his powerful word.(Hebrews 1:3) Along the same lines, God has set boundaries within his creation, as if he said to the sea: “Stop there; you are to go no farther.” (See Proverbs 8:29) Every detail of Creation has been designed and planned, and within which we see a beauty—some might even say an ‘artistry’ on God’s part, which is an expression of his character.
